LYON SPRAGUE DE CAMP
Three years earlier Jorian was proclaimed king in the land of Xylar, but the laws of the land decreed that after reigning for 5 years the king should be beheaded. Jorian did not like this idea and searched out an old magician who helped him escape. He could not take with him his queen however. Luck seemed to be on their side though because one night Jorian and the magician flew into the city in a floating copper bathtub controlled by the magician. Jorian would descend into the palace and rescue his wife, and it all seemed to be going according to plan.
